Why Tri.

Blyth Triathlon 2003:

400m swim, 13 mile bike, 4 mile run

The day I wrecked my first bike, but at least I got an award for my efforts at the end off season awards ceremony, "Write off of the year award 2003":)

RESULTS

Weardale Triathlon 2003:

600m swim, 17 mile bike, 4.5 mile run

Prince Bishops Triathlon 2003:

1.5km swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run

First Olympic Distance Event, was I scared, no way, besides I've already completed twice the distance in the Half Ironman 2002 at Llamberis in the previous year.

RACE REPORT

Firemans Triathlon 2003:

400m swim, 13 mile bike, 3 mile run

UK Half-Ironman Sherbourne Castle 2003:

1.9km swim, 56 mile bike, 13 mile run

Solo second time round and 10 minutes quicker, tried various time saving techniques like strapping tester to handle bars, which didn't work because the vibrations caused error messages, so I decided to test every hour.

First test point, 1 hour into race sugar was 16, so had a little fast acting to bring it down, and down it came like a stone, at next test point it was 2.6 mmol/l. Without having any extra insulin for the rest of the race, I was eating a GO Bar every 3 miles on the run and still my sugar was low, that's why I'm very cautious giving short acting in a race situation it just goes mental.
