Diary Edinburgh Marathon, 13th April 2006 Wed, 12th April, 2006 Plans for tomorrow include getting up early, travel to Edinburgh via car, get there at about 8-8.30am, run the Edinburgh marathon route, having slightly adapted the course to finish at Edinburgh hospital, do presentation "Living with Diabetes and Sport" including "The 5 Marathon Challenge" to the diabetes unit (with luck have time for food as well), jump straight back in the car and drive back, hopefully by this point it won't yet be 5pm, walk through the doors of Barclays Doxford Park and start work...... simple;)
Reduce Lantus dose to 8 units as in previous marathons..... and that's the diabetes taken care of! just got to run now:)
4+ Seasons in one day! Thurs, 13th April, 2006 4.30am Up early again, good thing I had plenty of sleep:( morning glucose level 7.5 mmol/l, so had 3 units of short acting, which will reduce my glucose level to around 5 mmol/l and on top of that, my breakfast dose of 6 units totaling 9 units,
8am Thought we had escaped the wind in Sunderland but Edinburgh was just as bad, set the Garmin GPS going which will the run track time, distance, pace etc, no gun this time, just ready when you are Mike....
It started to rain at about 10km, then Hail before some sunshine, then rain again, finishing with a mix of all three,
We Finished the 26 mile edinburgh course in 3hrs 57mins at the Old Royal Hospital, during the run we had been on the phones to establish how the presentation will be held and who will be attending, basically confirming the agenda so that everyone was in the right place so the meeting would go well and I could get back in time for work, only one problem we were at the wrong hospital, it turns out that there are two hospitals the old and the new....... solution run a bit further, why not,
Having done an extra 4 miles and an interview with forth radio I got on with the presentation,
6.30pm Finally got back for work, showered in the gym at Barclays in Doxford Park and straight into a role play assessment,
4 Down... and now the one we've all been waiting for:)... 1 too go.... |
